This article is about the current capitol. For the building used from 1959-2008, see Adanese National Capitol.

The National Capital Building is the central location of the Adanese Government, and is the meeting place of the Adanese Grand National Assembly. It is located on Akerson Hill, in the northeastern quadrant of New Alexander City.

History[]

1939-1949: The early years[]

1949-2008: Adanese Civil War & aftermath[]

The civil war left Adana City in ruins. The National Capital Building was one of few buildings spared of major damage, but was left to crumble after the war. From the end of the war to the reunification, the city's population plummeted, leaving the city abandoned and the Capitol falling apart.

2008-present: Reunification of Adana & reconstruction[]

Layout[]

The capitol is centred around the Grand Megaron, a large chamber flanked by the House of Representatives wing on the west, and the National Assembly wing on the east. Behind each wing are their respective office spaces, and between the offices, and behind the Grand Megaron, is the Primier Chamber, what was the original Prime Minister's office, but is now simply a large hallway leading to the new office built at the rear of the building during the reconstruction. Also in the post-reunification renovations is the building's completely new façade, which covers the old one with new offices for the GNA expansion, as well as the Federal Verandah, the capitol's new entrance.

Capitol Bell[]

The building was originally planned to have a clock tower constructed at its front, with a bell that would have rung at the top of each hour. The bell was actually cast before the tower's construction began, but the outbreak of the Civil War caused plans for the tower to be put off, and the bell was utilized as an air raid siren, managing to survive the conflict intact. After the war, the East Adanese ransacked much of the city, including the capital building, where they moved the bell to a basement underneath the House of Representatives offices, where it was quickly forgotten. However, after the Adanese Reunification, the capital was moved back to the city, and during the renovation of the capitol, the bell was discovered, much to national surprise, in February 2013. It was cleaned and moved into the Grand Megaron for display through the end of March, then installed behind the new capitol clock, and now rings to signal legislative assemblies.
